True Love Story Laced with Intrigue

Adapted from the novel Grace by Wendell V. Fountain

The movie Grazia was shot in HD and is a true suspenseful love story which takes place in north Florida.  As with most good books or scripts, there is more fact than fiction in the story.  St. Augustine, Florida is the primary setting; although, filming also took place in north Florida in Jacksonville, Palm Coast, and Putnam County, which included 40 venues/locations.  It took 22 intensive days often running 14 to 18 hours nonstop to complete the shoot.  Including extras in the movie there was a total of 115 participants.

The City of St. Augustine, the story, cinematography, and the original music are all stars of the movie.  North Florida is blessed with incredibly talented artists.  Most of the actors in the movie had little or no acting experience; yet, on the screen they look like seasoned professionals.  Dr. Wendell Fountain played the male lead in Grazia, and the beautiful and sensuous Tecla Dal Degan-Kindschi who hails from Italy and now lives in Melbourne, Florida played the female lead.  Other actors who played significant roles are Albert (Al) Aldrich, Eric B. Smith, Anthony Pfleger, Hilary Teisan, Angela Ninan, Mike Corcoran, Missy Hall, and Mike Petroff.  Occupationally, of those whom acted in the film, there are three who hold earned doctoral degrees, two medical doctors, two attorneys, one registered nurse (RN), and a host of others who have been awarded undergraduate and/or master's degrees--not to mention several who are highly trained tradesmen among other professionals.

It is curious that Grazia is the first love story to be filmed in St. Augustine, because the city is such a romantic, picturesque, quaint, and historic setting.  In fact, St. Augustine is the oldest city in the nation.  As an aside, on Easter Sunday of 2008, Deana Martin, a marvelous singer and performer in her own right, (the daughter of the late icon Dean Martin) called Wendell Fountain, the author of the book, Grace, and suggested that the book be made into a movie.  Fountain tried to get Hollywood greats such as Clint Eastwood interested in the project, but he was busy making "Invictus" in South Africa at the time.  So, Fountain decided to attempt to produce a low budget, independent film himself.  With the help of a cameraman, Fountain essentially directed the movie.  Wendell Fountain and Dr. Grace Mandicott Fountain wrote the screenplay.  Wendell's Italian-American wife Grace was the inspiration for the book.
